Leein Wayne Felton, 92, of Richland Center passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the Richland Hospital. Wayne was born on March 22, 1931, the son of Cletus LeRoy Sr. and Violet Marie (Elliott) Felton.
Wayne farmed in the Bloom City area with his two brothers, Wyman and Cletus Jr. Following that, he entered the military and served for two years during the Korean War. When he returned home from the war, he started his lifelong career of 41 years as a printer for the Shopping News. He retired in 1996.
Wayne and Myra met while Wayne was in the army and Myra was teaching at the Huth School. Four of Wayne's brothers were students at the school. Wayne began writing to their teacher which led to a courtship and marriage. He was a loving and dedicated husband for more than 65 years. When Myra passed in 2020, he was heartbroken. There was not a day that passed that he didn't long to be with her again. The love and commitment that Wayne and Myra shared has been a great example to their children and grandchildren.
Wayne was a lifelong member of the Beulah Wesleyan Church in Gillingham. Everyone who attended church was met with a big smile and a friendly handshake as he handed out the weekly bulletins, as the head usher and greeter. He was also the stand in parent for many children who attended the CYC program at the church. He proudly pinned the badges that kids had earned onto their sash. He also was a van driver for the church. He was a great singer and could be found singing in the church choir.
Wayne had a love for cars and talked about them with anyone who would like to reminisce with him. He was an amazing sketch artist and taught some of the grandchildren how to draw cars. Wayne enjoyed listening to the birthday and anniversary announcements and calling those he knew to be sure to acknowledge their special days.
Wayne is survived by four children: David (Judy) Felton of Green Bay, Dan (Kris) Felton of Richland Center, Brenda (Randy) Ewing of Richland Center, Randy (Stacey) Felton of Richland Center; brothers: Marvin (Gerry) Felton, Melvin (Linda) Felton, Earl Felton all of Richland Center; sister-in-law: Nancy Felton of Richland Center; 11 Grandchildren: Stephanie, Josh, Ryan, Stephen (Rachel), Nick (Nikki), Derrick (Amber), Melinda (Lucas), Kyle, Marissa, Breanna, Logan; 6 Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife: Myra; his parents: Cletus and Violet (Elliott); brothers and sisters-in-law: Cletus (Darleen), Wyman, Lawrence (Anita), Marcia, and Barbara.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Fancy Creek Cemetery.
