Wayne Hacker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brigham Funeral Chapel - Edmore on Jul. 18, 2025.

Wayne A. Hacker
Born March 10, 1938, in Entrican Michigan to Frederick and Opal (Burris) Hacker.
Wayne passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on July 17,2025 at the age of 87.
Wayne married Janet Ann Scott on October 23, 1959. He attended school in Entrican, MI. He worked for the local farmers in the Entrican and Stanton area in his youth.
Wayne liked to tell the story of how he came to work for the Montcalm County Road Commission. He said that he was always at the shop asking for a job and if he's always going to be there he might as well be working. He also obtained the nickname Yogi after he started at the county. Wayne and Janet also ran an AFC home for. about 25 years.
Wayne has always been a character, full of life and happy go lucky. One of his greatest pleasures was teasing whoever was around. When he was younger there wasn't a yard sale he could drive by or try to talk the price down. He LOVED his Farmall tractors of which he had many (kind of like the yard sales, he didn't pass one up if he could buy it). He enjoyed going to the "Jams", music concerts of a sort all over the surrounding area. He spent a lot of his time tinkering in the garage, despite his tools "disappearing" after his sons and grandsons worked on their vehicle.
More than anything Wayne loved his spending time with family his family. He loved having a party at the house because everyone would be around and hosted many pig roasts. In the winter he liked watching the kids slide down Hacker hill, from his kids to his great grandchildren and many neighbor kids as well. But one of his greatest accomplishments was mowing the hill without rolling the tractor.
Wayne is survived by his children and their families; Kim and Randy Papist of Newberry, MI and their children Anthony and Shannon Papist and their son Wesley of Interlochen, MI and Stuart and Hollie Papist and their children Lillie, Hope and Kaden of Vestaburg, MI; Scott and Robin Hacker of Ewell, MI and their children Becky and Craig Hacker and their children, Jasper and Magnolia of Shepard, MI and Ryan and Stephanie Hacker with their children Payton and twins Paige and Grace of Vestaburg, MI; Bill and Angel Hacker and their children Willie of Vestaburg, MI and Travis of Mt. Pleasant, MI; Jon and Lisa Hacker with their children Maverick and Letty of Vestaburg, MI and Eva's children, Grant Hacker and Hana with soon to be baby girl, Hazel of Vestaburg, MI and Jacob and Tommy of Stanton. He also is survived by his beloved "damn" dog Duke.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Opal Hacker, his wife Janet Hacker, his daughter Eva Hacker and grand children Amanda Hacker and Kevin Papist. He was the last of his siblings who preceded him in death, Carl, Francis, Ruth, Don and Larry.
A celebration of life will take place at Ferris Center Church of Christ on Monday, July 21, 2025. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm with the service at 2:30 pm. Reverend Henery Hawver will be officiating.
