LANCASTER, SC~ It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Wayne Hinson, 69, a beloved figure in the Lancaster community, who departed this life on Friday, November 7, 2025, at MUSC Health-Lancaster Medical Center.
Born in
Lancaster, SC, on October 12, 1956, to the late Bonnie Hinson and Lula Hinson Hinson, Wayne was a man of integrity and entrepreneurial spirit, the proud owner and operator of Hinson's Trading Post. He possessed a generous heart, a profound love for his community, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Wayne could come across strong and anyone who ever dealt with him behind that counter knows he meant business, but he was humble and soft hearted where it mattered. Even the day he passed away, he was a donor and helped save several lives.
Wayne lived life with enthusiasm. He found joy in the simple pleasures: the open road on his Harley, the tranquility of the beach, annual camping trips, the thrill of NASCAR, and the loyal companionship of his cherished dog, Abby. Above all, his devotion to his family, particularly his grandchildren, and his deep roots in the community defined his legacy.
He is lovingly remembered by his life partner of 21 years, Cheryl Hagins; his daughters, Sheena Hinson, Jennifer Dobson, and Kailey James (Ryan); and his six adoring grandchildren, Chandler, Breana, Bonnie, Collin, Wyatt, and Ava. He is also survived by his brother, Howell Hinson (Chris); his sister, Brenda Whitaker (Jimmy); and his special friend, Frank Mills.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Dot Faile and Peggy Crenshaw; his niece, Trista Hinson; and his two dear friends, BJ Whited and Ji Powers.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held to honor his memory at 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverends Larry Hancock, Caitlin Rollings, and Tim Larrimore officiating. The family will graciously receive friends at the cemetery following the service. The family asked that you please wear your favorite Hinson's Trading Post attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to organizations close to his heart: the LCSPCA, PO Box 3042,
Lancaster, SC 29721, or the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, 20800 Swenson Dr., Suite 300, Waukesha, WI 53186 or Lancaster County Outreach, PO Box 1719,
