Wayne Edward Jagusch
Of Arlington Heights
Wayne Edward Jagusch, devoted husband, champion dad, beloved papa, and cherished friend was delivered from Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) at 12:14pm on February 8, 2024. In his last days, he was lovingly cared for by the excellent staff of Waverly Inn Memory Care in
Arlington Heights, Illinois. He passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus with the love of his life, his Joycie, by his side.
Wayne was a brilliant and successful businessman, eventually owning Beacon Metal Products, the company he ran for the majority of his life. At the age of 50, Wayne returned to Lake Forest College to receive his Masters of Business Administration. He was invited to sit on and directed several boards and was known for his ability to analyze complex business situations.
Wayne sought every opportunity to spend time with his lifelong buddies, shooting the breeze and laughing, laughing, laughing. He loved nothing better than a good joke. His closest friends were in his life for over sixty years.
Wayne was "Papa" to fourteen grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. They were his pride and joy. The cumulative hours of video he shot of their many milestones must number in the hundreds. He "looked up" to his eight grandsons, who surpassed him in height, but who will never grow a comparable mustache. For these young men, Wayne set the model for what it is to be a man. His granddaughters were known to all as his "pretty ones" and share his love for all things chocolate.
Wayne was father to five daughters and frequently offered to assist anyone else seeking female offspring. Wayne proclaimed to the world that he was "henpecked". In reality, he was there in an instant should any of them express a need. He championed their passions for art, dance, and music and instilled the belief that they could achieve anything a man could. He passed his dry sense of humor and knack for numbers to his only son, Elizabeth. Wayne's daughters were his "sunshine, his only sunshine."
Wayne loved cars. He realized his dream when he purchased a '95 Chevy Impala, lovingly referred to as "The SS". He was able to fix most things and single-handedly remodeled many rooms to Joycie's specifications. He videotaped many weddings and was a grill master. His favorite things in life were traveling with Joyce and enjoying fine food and an excellent glass of wine. But no wine could outdo an ice-cold "see-through".
Wayne did nothing better than be a husband to Joyce. Their love story started when she was just fifteen years old, and he 20. Through life's joy and tragedy, his love and devotion to her never faltered. His face was never so handsome than when his beautiful Joycie was on his arm.
His family is peaceful knowing that Wayne is in the presence of Jesus, his Savior and friend. He was the example of faith and spiritual head of the household. The best thing he did for his family was to take them to church so they could develop their own relationship with his God and Savior. For this they are forever grateful.
Wayne was born in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Lucile Jagusch.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Jagusch, his daughters Jennifer (Patrick) Richter, Julianne Lambert, Jeanne (Trent) Kramer and Elizabeth (Gilbert) Bailey; his grandchildren Jacob (Katie) Richter, Emma ( Robert) Wolpert, Samuel Richter, Bennett (Emily) Lambert, Jordan Richter, Elayna Kramer, Wesley Kramer, Charles Richter, Kate Lambert, Eliza Kramer, Jack Kramer, Eden Bailey, Ethan Bailey and Eli Bailey; and his great-grandchildren Emmett Wolpert, Eliora Wolpert, Anna Wolpert, and Georgia Lambert.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Jill Jagusch.
