Wayne Van Jaske, 71, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 7, 2025. Born in Chicago, Wayne grew up in North Riverside, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed the easygoing, lighthearted nature that would define him throughout his life. He graduated from Riverside Brookfield High School and went on to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he played football.
Wayne spent his career in the flooring business, earning the respect of colleagues and customers with his steady work ethic and straightforward honesty. Outside of work, he enjoyed watching sports—especially NASCAR—and took great joy in his immediate and extended family, including his sisters, many cousins, nieces, and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He will be remembered with love for his gentle humor, his lighthearted teasing, and his deep devotion to family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Frank E. Jaske and Rose Helen (Lindaur) Jaske, and by his sister, Pamela Jo. He is survived by his sister, Audrey Douglass (Bob); his nieces and nephews Jennifer Brooks (Tom), Kate Seiwert (Michael), Jessica Jordan, Gary Douglass (Chris), and Grant Douglass; along with extended family members who loved him dearly.
