Wayne Goree Johnson, age 82, of Thomasville, GA, will be remembered with love and respect following his passing on November 8, 2025. Born on January 6, 1943, in Donalsonville, GA, Wayne was a devoted member of the First Newark Baptist Church. He was also a proud Mason and Shriner, recently receiving his 60-year pin for his dedicated service. Wayne was an avid reader, and he cherished his time spent meeting friends for coffee at Grassroots.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jean Johnson of Thomasville, as well as his children, Rhonda Johnson of Athens, Jan Johnson of Athens, Jonathan Gandy (Karri) of Thomasville, and Ashley Gandy (Deena) of Thomasville. He took great joy in his role as a grandfather to Carson, Skylar, Michaela, Jules, and Blaine.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Newark Baptist Church, with Pastor Steve Brooks officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Wayne's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Newark Baptist Church's Youth and Children's Ministry 225 Russell Road, Thomasville, Georgia 31757 or to the Shriner's Children Hospital.
