Funeral Mass for Wayne L. Kelly, 83 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Fr. Ken Lulf Celebrant. Sequencer will be Kay Nicholas and song leaders will be Cindy Marohl and Sandi Jaspers. Pallbearers will be Brandon Woznak, Dan Neiland, Ronnie Kelly, Harold Fryer, Justin Fryer, and Jerry Cordie. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff at Tekakwitha Living Center and Prairie Lakes Hospice Nurses. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD with Military rites by Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and Fort Sisseton V.F.W. Post #3342. There will be visitation at the Cahill Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangement.
Wayne Lyle Kelly was born on December 11, 1941 in Sisseton, SD to James and Lila (Olson) Kelly. Wayne graduated from Sisseton High School in 1960. After graduation, he went on to join the National Guard and completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Following basic training he advanced on to Fort Sill, Oklahoma and continued to serve the National Guard for 7 years. Wayne and Lorraine (George) Kelly married in April 1964 and were blessed with two children Mary and Jim (who passed away in an auto accident). Wayne and Lorraine lived in Circle Pines, Minnesota until they retired. Then they moved to Lake Osakis, where they enjoyed lake life for a few years before returning to Sisseton. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling together, with a special fondness for cruises. Wayne enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. Wayne was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church. Wayne passed away at the Tekakwitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD on January 3, 2025, surrounded by family and assisted by hospice.
Wayne is survived by his wife Lorraine Kelly of Sisseton. SD; one daughter, Mary (Bruce) Woznak of Blaine, MN; two grandchildren Brandon (McKenna) Woznak of Blaine, MN and Katie Woznak of Blaine, MN; one brother Ronnie (Julie) Kelly of Watertown, SD; four sisters Elaine (Dick) Jones of Springfield, SD, Phyllis Martinek of New Effington, SD, Linda Kelly of Clarissa, MN and Vicki Kelly of Watertown, SD; two sisters-in-law Marian Valentine of St. Paul, MN and Gail Kelly of Sisseton, SD.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; one son James Kelly; two sisters Janet Neiland and Carol Tracy; two brothers Darrell Kelly and Keith Kelly.
