Wayne was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Granada Fire Department and Granada American Legion. Wayne loved to be outdoors where he could be hunting and fishing. He especially loved to take his nieces and nephews deer hunting. He would be up early making breakfast before the morning hunt for them. Wayne had the perfect recipe for fresh deer loin we would all enjoy after a long weekend of hunting. He loved to go up north to Lake Winnibigoshish with family and friends. He would share many stories of spear fishing, which was his favorite. Wayne enjoyed spending his time with nieces, nephews and later his great nieces and nephews, playing outside or working on projects. Wayne enjoyed driving his golf cart around Granada, he enjoyed his time at the Station for coffee or cruising over to the school to watch the high school sports teams.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Caroline Kotewa of Fairmont; siblings, Judy (Dick) Zehms of Sherburn, Mary Becker of Fairmont, Janice (Edward) Eckmann of Fairmont, Jim Kotewa of Mankato, Joel Kotewa of Fairmont and Randy (Laura) Kotewa of Canon City, CO; nieces and nephews, Karisa (Travis) Rozeboom, Mark (Shirleen) Zehms, Jamie (Matt) Haefner, Joshua Kotewa, Adam (Michelle) Kotewa, Brooke (Andy) Pierce, Jeff (Jenny) Becker, Ben (Jessica) Eckmann, Sara (Evan) Peters, Jacob (Abby) Stith, Nathan Kotewa and Alec (Fabi) Kotewa and other extended family.
