In Loving Memory of Wayne Thomas Lenard
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wayne, age 62, who passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, after a long battle with cancer, that he fought with great strength. He was surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend whose generous heart, and deep appreciation for the outdoors shaped a life rich with meaning.
Wayne was born in Alpena on June 8, 1963, to a Louis and Beatrice (Krajniak) Lenard. A true jack of all trades, Wayne loved the great outdoors and didn't miss a second enjoying it. He spent most days in the woods, deer hunting and endless hours along rivers and streams chasing steelhead and trout. His hunting camp was his paradise, more than a place in the woods-it was where family and friends gathered, where stories were shared, and where card games stretched long into the night. Those moments of togetherness were among the ones he cherished most.
Growing up, Wayne found joy on the baseball field, and that early passion grew into a lifelong loyalty to the Detroit Tigers. Whether they were winning or rebuilding, he supported them with unwavering heart.
At home, some of Wayne's happiest evenings were spent playing cards with his beloved wife, Lisa, and their close friends-filled with warmth, laughter, and a friendly touch of competition. Being a "rockhound" with his wife Lisa, was one of his newest enjoyed pastimes.
Wayne leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who will forever feel his absence, and memories that will keep his spirit close for years to come. His legacy of camp will live on through his children.
May the rivers run clear, the woods stay quiet, the Tigers keep swinging and may he rest easy in paradise.
Surviving are his wife, Lisa; 4 children, Erin (Kartheek) Reddy, Nolan Lenard, Tyler Lenard, Robert Lutey (Megan); 5 grandchildren, Pacha, Visari, Julia, Theo, Viv; his mother, Beatrice Lenard; 3 siblings, Terry (Marcy) Lenard, James (Jean) Lenard, Tina (Joel) Suszek; several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Louis Lenard and son-in-law, Andre Thomas.
A proper celebration of Wayne's life will take place at a later date. Cremation arrangements are being handled being Bannan Funeral Home.
