Wayne Lentz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kyger Funeral Home - Harrisonburg on Apr. 19, 2024.
Wayne Kreider Lentz, 89, of Massanutten, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord on the evening of Tuesday, April 16, 2024. We are rejoicing in his freedom from pain.
Wayne was born on February 25, 1935, in Cleona, Pennsylvania to the late Cora Elizabeth Kreider Lentz and Jacob H. Lentz. He was the third of three children.
He grew up as a farm boy in Lebanon County, PA and graduated in 1954 from Hershey High school in Hershey, PA. He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army. The second tour was a recall in 1961 for the Berlin Crisis.
Wayne moved to Laverne, MN in April 1960 to represent Cole Chemical of St. Louis as a pharmaceutical rep. After four years with Cole, he moved to Sioux City, Iowa and began a career with Bristol Laboratories, again as a pharmaceutical rep.
In 1969, at the beginning of a whole new industry, he founded Video Electronics, a company specializing in hi-tech video equipment. The company was the first in the United States to install video cameras in police cars.
Wayne returned to Pennsylvania in 1974 to continue in the sales field, working as an account executive in radio and later founded Kian Corp. and Arpro Inc.
In his younger years, his favorite past time was golf. While living in northwest Iowa, he received national recognition from Toastmasters International for establishing five new clubs in two years in the area.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ann Sturgeon Lentz; daughter, Sara Shank (Eric); stepsons, Eric Dorn (Margie) and Jason Dorn (Joy); three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joel Lentz.
Those who knew him in the last several decades of his life recognized him as a man with a strong faith in Jesus Christ and God's Holy Word.
A Celebration of Wayne's Life will be conducted on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 4 p.m., at the Church of the Nazarene, 1871 Boyers Road, Rockingham, VA 22801 with Pastors Roger Dove and Joseph Stoner officiating."
