Old Orchard Beach

Wayne N. McKee, 63, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, December 30, 2025, in Scarborough.

Born in Biddeford on August 1, 1962, Wayne was the son of Robert and Claire (Roy) McKee.

He grew up in Old Orchard Beach and graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School with the Class of 1981.

On April 24, 1987, he married the love of his life, Cheryl Rodgers, and together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and deep companionship.

Wayne was employed by Nike and Palace Playland in his early years. Wayne served the Town of Wells as a police officer, court officer, and animal control officer for a few years. He went on to work in security for various hotels in Wells, then Southern Maine Medical Center and Maine Medical Center.

A man of wide-ranging interests, Wayne enjoyed classic rock, playing the drums, and immersing himself in World War history. He had a gift for storytelling and a sense of humor that made him beloved by friends and family alike. Known as "Jolly Joe" in high school, he always lightens any mood with his funny stories.

Wayne loved his sons and spent hours with them playing army men. He loved animals, especially cats and birds.

Wayne will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father, a cherished grandfather, and a loyal lifelong friend. His warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his parents; his stepfather, Linwood Kimball; his sister, Pamela Paquette; and his nephew, Shawn Paquette.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cheryl McKee; his sons, Bruce McKee and partner Caren Vigneault, and James McKee and partner Olivia Hamilton; and his grandson, Alexander. He is also survived by his siblings Terry Lebrun, Cindy Whitney, and Belinda Smith; his brother in law Maurice Paquette, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00AM–1:00PM with a Funeral Service at 1PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. To view Wayne's memorial page or leave an online condolence, please visit www.cotefuneralhome.com
