On July 31, 1945, Wayne Cyril Junior was born in Vallejo, CA, to Wayne Cyril Senior and Alvera Melquist. He was very close to his parents and was very independent from a young age. Wayne developed a love for cars early in life. At just twelve years old, he helped his parents negotiate a fair price for the family car. This passion carried into his adult life, where he gifted each of his children a car on their 16th birthday as a way of showing his love and generosity.
Wayne met the love of his life, Susan Mary Melquist, at the age of fifteen on a blind date. They married in their early twenties and soon started a family. As parents, Wayne and Susan were loving and dedicated. Their daughters cherish many fond memories of summer trips to Pine Grove, where they stayed in their parent's Prowler trailer. Wayne enhanced their vacation spot by building a deck around the trailer and adding a shed for extra sleeping space. It became the family's favorite getaway, where they created a lifestyle now known as "glamping."
Wayne also had a deep love for dogs, and his family often cared for several litters of puppies while the girls were growing up. This shared experience instilled a lifelong love for dogs in the entire family.
Wayne and Susan shared a beautiful love story for sixty years. They were truly soulmates and remained devoted to one another until Susan's passing in 2021. The loss of his beloved wife was a profound challenge for Wayne, as he missed her more than words could ever express.
Wayne is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Don and Lisa Wood, Derek and Amy Loar, and Jason and Melanie Crow. He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren, Megan, Jack, Sam, Alyssa, Ethan, Gavin, Mia, and Ella.
On September 25, 2024, Wayne passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Though his last three years were difficult, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now reunited with Susan. Together again, they are surely watching over their loved ones from heaven.
Wayne will forever be in our hearts. We feel his presence daily and miss him beyond measure. "We love you past the moon and stars, Dad."
A graveside memorial will be held at All Souls Cemetery on December 21, 2024 at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Napa Humane Society or a charity of your choice. Cremation and arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo CA.

If a person wanted to know of an example of "good people", Wayne and Sue would be found on the list!

Wayne and Sue were super kind neighbors and lovely parents.
We could not have had a better group than those Pajaro days!
