Mr. Harvey Wayne Pardue, age 86, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center. Mr. Pardue was born in Wilkes County on September 9, 1938 to the late Harvey Weston and Ruby Johnson Pardue.
Wayne retired from Celanese Corporation as a lab tech after 33 years. He was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a member of Clingman Community Center Foundation and Woodmen of the World. Wayne found joy in life’s simple pleasures, spending countless peaceful hours tending to his garden, carefully cutting his grass, and enjoying quiet moments on the back porch. A lover of books, the beauty of nature, and the gentle rhythm of a relaxed life, he embraced a steady presence that brought calm to those around him. He especially loved trips to the mountains and sitting on the porch at Oak Island, taking in the view and the quiet comfort of nature. Above all, Wayne was a devoted family man who cherished his wife and children deeply. He never missed a chance to attend his grandchildren’s sports games, graduations, or a simple family lunch—always showing up with quiet pride and unwavering love. He had a rare gift for truly listening—fully present, never distracted—making everyone around him feel valued.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Mounce Pardue of the home; son, Keith Wayne Pardue of Nashville, TN; daughters, Lisha Pardue Morton and husband Darin of Charlotte and Denise Pardue and husband, Ric Marshall of Ararat, NC; grandchildren, Justice and Ben Fullenwider, Grayson Morton, Macey Morton, Eric Marshall and Elizabeth Marshall Hull; great-grandchildren, Jordyn Hull, Reese Hull and Graely Hull; special extended family, Lynn and Reba Mounce, Clayton and Virginia Mounce and Steve and Karen Pardue.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held immediately following the receiving at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dwayne Byrd and Rev. Elmer Barker officiating.
