Blanche Ward Burton Pardue (February 2, 1930 - September 12, 2024) grew up in the small farming community of Gilbert, Louisiana. In 1947, she started at LSU and was a member of Chi Omega. At LSU, she met and married Richard E. Burton. After LSU, she settled in Baton Rouge and became the mother of four boys: Richard Ward, John Eugene, Albert Andrew, and Clayton Clendenin. She was a charter member of the Broadmoor United Methodist Church. In 1966 she finished her LSU degree and in the early 1970s, she started nursing school at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and graduated as the class salutatorian. After retiring from nursing, she married Benjamin Wesley Pardue, MD and moved to New Orleans. Upon his passing, she moved back to Baton Rouge. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Greg Burton, Jamie Burton, Cici Burton, Clay Burton, Shelby Burton, Jeffery McPeak, Jaycee Wheat, and Katelynn Wheat
She also relished fussing with her daughters and daughters-in-law Nesha Burton, Kelley Cody Burton, Michelle Burton, Leslie Wheat, and Laura Escue about those "jackassed Burton Men." After a lengthy illness, she passed away in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
A special thank you to her daughter in law Nesha Burton for her unyielding support during her final years.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024, in the chapel of Dennard First National Funeral Home, with Fr. Jason Gootee officiating; interment will follow at Oakley Cemetery near Gilbert.
The services are under the direction of Dennard First National Funeral Home Winnsboro.
