Wayne Phillips of Atoka, Oklahoma passed on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on Monday, April 22, 1940 in Caney, Oklahoma to Minnie Leona (Hobson) and Raymond Richard Phillips.
Prior to residing in Atoka, Oklahoma, he formerly resided in Moore, Caney, and areas in Bryan County. Wayne married Clarice Juna Phillips on August 17, 1962 in Marietta, Oklahoma. The following year, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served for 6 years.
Wayne enjoyed coaching football, little league, baseball, and soft ball. He was a coach for many years, and coached Moore Christian Academy, winning the state title. He also enjoyed playing bluegrass music and was a bass player for the City Moon and was also the founder, with his son, of the IIIrd Generation Bluegrass Band.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Clarice Juna Phillips; parents Minnie Leona (Hobson) and Raymond Richard Phillips; brother Marvin Phillips; sister-in-law JoAnn Vinyard; brother-in-law Jack Rambo.
Survivors include his son Mark Phillips and April Phillips of Atoka, Oklahoma; daughter Pam Bonham and husband Glen of Atoka, Oklahoma; foster son Michael Phillips of Indiana; grandchildren Michael Phillips, Jr., Mika Phillips, Mia Phillips, Mitchell Wayne Phillips, Jeff Bonham, Terrance Bonham and wife Amanda, Veronica Tyson and husband Clinton, Aleesha Smith and husband Brannam, Molly Bonham, Sierah Alvarado; great grandchildren Ethen, Amon, J.J., Caleb, Cayden, Kayleigh, Michael, Faith, Jack, Julianna Yates and husband Triston, Isaac, Lillie, Lillie Mae, Eli, Kale, Aeden, Christian, Cameron, Angel, Alyssa, Alana, Hunter; great-great grandchildren Laylah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Bennett, Cash; sisters Dottie Rambo, Regina Earles; numerous nephews, nieces; sister-in-law Sarah Phillips, as well as other extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Midway Family Worship Center, 1198 West Voca Rd. Coleman, Oklahoma with Veronica Tyson officiating.
