Wayne Schroeder Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 31, 2025.
Wayne Schroeder beloved husband, brother, father, and Pops to his grandchildren and great grandchildren went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2025, at the age of 81.
Wayne was born in Sealy, Texas, on January 21, 1944, to Ralph and Birdie Schroeder. He excelled in many sports and graduated from Sealy High School in 1962. While attending University of Houston, he was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam. When he returned from Vietnam, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and went on to become a Quality Control Manager for Cameron Iron Works and Ellwood Texas Forge for over 45 years. He found joy in coaching his children in various youth sports, golfing, barbequing and spending time with family. He served his church as an usher and served in various ministries including nursing home outreach.
He married his high school sweetheart, Bess, on June 6, 1965. Their first date was a double date with his sister and one of his friends. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. She was the love of his life and they were able to spend many incredible years together. From cruising in their LeMans convertible to fishing on family property to taking vacations to many family celebrations, the two were inseparable.
Wayne's relationship with Jesus was of the utmost importance to him. He clung to his life scripture – Isaiah 40: 31 – but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint – until he went to be with his Lord and Savior. His relationship with his family and church family are evidence of the fruits of the Spirit displayed in his life.
Moments that brought Wayne the most joy include: serving at his church, Katy Community Fellowship as an usher, playing golf, watching local sports teams and golf on TV, decorating his front porch for Christmas, and celebrating birthdays and holidays with his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph and his mother, Birdie. He is survived by his loving wife, Bess; his three children Melissa and husband Rod, Matt and wife Kimberley, Joy and husband, Corey. His grandchildren: Brooke, Catherine, Austin, Kylee, Cade, Caeley, Cheyenne, Dane, and Johnny Wayne. His great grandchildren: Micah, Carter, Elena, and Reagan. His sister, Virginia and husband Weldon; his brother, Curtis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers: Cade Schroeder, Richie Lynch, Corey Shipman, Mark Krampitz, Mark Gaskamp and Rod Long.
A celebration of life will be held at Katy Community Fellowship - 24102 Kingsland Blvd Katy, TX 77494 on Friday, April 4, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 am and service to follow at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, friends who may want to make memorial gifts can make them to Katy Community Fellowship outreach ministries. https://katyfellowship.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/453/responses/new

Bessie I am so sorry for your loss. I can imagine how it affects you and your family. Wayne is in a much better place as you know but that doesn´t take away the pain you have for missing him. God will take care of you too. Take care now. Love you. Eva and John Bird
