Wayne J. Soltau passed away at home on Saturday, October 12, 2024 after succumbing to Lung Cancer and Alzheimers. Wayne was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 9, 1938 to Otto and Eleanor Soltau but spent most of his childhood in Wisconsin on Lake Koshkonong.
After high school, Wayne enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, he was proud to serve his country, during his tour of duty he spent two years in Okinawa and received an Honorable Discharge. Wayne, worked for United Airlines for 40 years and retired in 2002.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Nita, though they had no children from their union, they shared a blended family of 9 children, Jon Hansen, Jason Hansen, William Hansen, Fred Hansen, Janet Baker, Sharon Bartley, Paul Soltau, Alan Soltau and Janet Kijak. They also shared 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is survived by his brother Glenn Soltau, his sister Sandy Nickerson and a large extended family.
Wayne loved to fish and watch sports, especially NASCAR. He looked forward to going to Alaska to fish and visiting family in Lake Havasu. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who loved and knew him.
Services and Interment with Military Honors will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 12:00PM at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Buchanan Blvd. Boulder City, NV 89005.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE, to follow interment at Sams Town Casino in the Goldfield Room 5111 Boulder Hwy, Las Vegas, NV 89005
