Wayne Stone Obituary
Wayne loved his family. In 1976, he met Michelle Costello while attending Kennedy High school in Fremont, California. That is where their love of family, coaching and sports started. Wayne was a man of many talents; he loved of music and playing the drums. Wayne's children remember him as a passionate, caring, dependable, loving, and silly father. Wayne was passionate about coaching, outrigger Canoeing, golfing, being with ohana, cooking his Puerto Rican/ Hawaiian food, traveling, watching all his grand lavas games and dance recitals.
Wayne was a very dedicated hard worker for the Fremont Unified School District for over 20 plus years. The job he loved most was being a football and track coach at Irvington HS in Fremont. Coaching for 30 years Coach Stone touched many lives. All the athletes he coached have many stories about Coach Stone and all his one liners.
He is survived by sister, Cathy Maxwell. His wife of 45 years, Michelle Stone. His 3 sons Wayne Anthony Jr (Melissa), Joshua Michael (Antoinette), Jacob Allen (Danielle). Grand Lavas Damian, Brayden, Mikayla, Sebastian, Dylan, Oliver, Scarlet, Jordyn and Harrison and the many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and athletes. If you met Wayne you were a part of his Ohana. Wayne was most proud of his role as Papa to the grand lavas and believe us he let you know all about them.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mildred Boskie Stone, brother Jamie M. Stone and father-in-law Charles S. Costello Jr. The many family and friends that met Wayne at the gates to welcome him into eternal life.
There will be a Celebration of Life open for all that loved Wayne, Coach Stone, Papa, and Friend on June 8, 2024 starting at 11 AM at Irvington High School main gym, 41800 Blacow Rd. Fremont, CA. A reception will follow at 2:00 PM at Bronco Billy's, 41200 Blacow Rd.

My first memory of Wayne was seeing him and Michelle talking at a track meet in high school. I don´t know how they actually met, but as I look back on it, I am reminded that a single moment in time can change your life. I haven´t seen Wayne in many years but I fondly remember his easy smile and laugh. I know that Wayne and Michelle made marriage seem comfortable and easy.
