Wayne K. Thalman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and avid golfer, passed away on March 30, 2023. He was 89 years old.
Born in Provo, UT on February 4, 1934, Wayne was the son of Emil Thalman and Helen Scovil. After graduating from Provo High School, Wayne managed a service station before he was drafted into the Army in 1956, where he served his country in Japan.
In 1956, Wayne married the love of his life, Nadine Peay, and together they had three children, Kelly, Brad, and Lisa. Wayne was a devoted father who loved spending time with his family. He also cherished his role as a grandfather, and he loved nothing more than spending time with his seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
After serving in the Army, Wayne worked at Geneva Steel for 43 years, where he developed a reputation as a hardworking and dedicated employee. His colleagues remember him as a man of integrity who always did his best and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Wayne retired at the age of 68.
Wayne was also an avid golfer, and he spent many happy hours on the golf course with his friends and family. He was known for his skill on the green and his infectious enthusiasm for the game.
Wayne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various positions in the church including Home Teacher, Ward missionary, and Executive Secretary. He loved his ward and his loving neighbors. We would like to thank Envision Hospice for the care that they gave Wayne. A special thank you to Jason (nurse), Melissa (Aid), and Lovette (Chaplin) with Envision. Their dedication and love helped Wayne to be comfortable in his last few days.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Helen, and his two brothers, Karl and Dean. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Nadine, his children Kelly Boswell (Clint), Brad Thalman (Jeannine), and Lisa Nicponski, as well as his seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held Sunday, April 2nd at Wheeler Mortuary 82 West 400 North in Mapleton from 6-8 pm. A celebration of Wayne's life will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church located at 1215 North 1000 West, Mapleton, UT, with a viewing for family and friends from 9:30 am-10:30 am that morning prior to the services.
