Mr. Wayne Veazey, 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his home in Louisville. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 4th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. A private burial will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery.

Wayne was born March 21, 1952, in Kosciusko, MS, to Maurice and Lois Sellers Veazey. They moved to New Boston, Michigan, where he grew up. He graduated from Huron High School in 1970, and then East Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. He attended the McDonald’s Hamburger University of Chicago, and worked in management for McDonald’s for many years. He later moved to Louisville in 2005, where he met his wife, Gloria, and they married in 2005 in Tallulah, LA. He was a faithful member of First Methodist Church, where he was very active. He loved his church, and especially his Sunday School class, the J. E. Calloway Bible Study class, which he taught for several years.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara Apple.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Gloria Pickett Veazey; two daughters, Stacy (Dell Estes) Sullivan of Louisville, and Kim (Kevin) Swicegood of Houston, TX; a brother, Michael Veazey of Brandon, MS; a sister, Dianne Fowler of Traverse City, MI; three grandchildren, Jaycob (Mamie) Sullivan, Isabella Swicegood, and Emma Swicegood; two great grandchildren, Rowdy Mack Sullivan and Ivy Beth Sullivan; and his beloved dog, Dak.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wayne’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the Wounded Warrior Project (www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org) .
