David Leo Veazey, 78, of Amarillo, TX passed away October 27, 2025.
Born September 30, 1947, in Morton, Tx to Leo and Ethel Veazey. They moved to Amarillo when David was one. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1966. He then attended Amarillo College for two years. He went to work for Amarillo Blueprint Company and then the City of Amarillo.
He met Alice Holman at the wedding of their siblings, and they married three months later on October 15, 1971. They just celebrated their 54th anniversary.
David surrendered to preach the gospel in January of 1975. They moved to Springfield, MO in May and he graduated from Baptist Bible College in May of 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Theology. While in college, David and Alice helped start Del Prado Baptist Church in Springfield. It was during the time the Lord blessed David and Alice with three sons.
In October of 1980, David accepted the call to become the pastor of Amarillo Baptist Church where he would pastor till his retirement in June of 2017. Upon retiring they moved to Colorado with their son Don and then to Missouri before returning to Amarillo in June of 2025.
David was preceded in death by his parents Leo Veazey and Ethel Veazey, nephew Jeremy Veazey and sister-in-law Judy Veazey.
He is survived by his wife Alice Veazey of Amarillo, Texas. His son Scott Veazey (Melissa) of Amarillo, Texas. His son Donald Veazey (Catherine) of Prince Frederick, Maryland. His son Aaron Veazey (Tiffany) of Kansas City, Kansas. 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Six siblings: Larry Veazey (Nancy) Weatherford, TX; Jerry Veazey Amarillo, TX; Cathy Cumpston (Roger) Amarillo, TX; Barbara King Amarillo, TX; Judy Messer Amarillo TX; John Veazey (Sharon) Joplin, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Arden Road Baptist Church, 6701 Arden Rd. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
