R. Wayne Wall, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, on his 93rd birthday. He was born December 19, 1932, to Thomas Varnam Wall and Dorothy Clista Young. He grew up in Layton, Utah and graduated from Davis High School in 1951.
Wayne married the love of his life, Cleone Hipwell, on January 29, 1953, in the Salt Lake City Temple and they were together until her passing in 2020. Shortly after their wedding, Wayne entered the U.S. Army and was deployed to France. Cleone joined him there, and they created enduring memories during this chapter of their lives.
Wayne dedicated 31 years of his career to Honeywell. He was known for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he was happiest in the garden. He took pride in growing grapes, alfalfa, vegetables and fruit trees, and he built a large rose garden for Cleone.
Wayne loved in practical ways – fixing, building, planting, and providing. He could repair nearly anything and spent countless hours working on projects at home and at the family cabin, often alongside his children and neighbors. If you needed help, he was there. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and reading, and he found happiness in simple days spent outdoors.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wayne served faithfully in many callings including Bishop and Stake High Council member.
Wayne leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Steven (Diane) Wall, Diane (Paul) Laprevote, David (Pietra) Wall, Todd (Robyn) Wall, Bruce Wall, and Jeannie Wall, 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the time spent with him and the invaluable lessons he imparted.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Cleone, infant daughter, Susan, his parents, and his sister Clista Stark, along with three brothers, Thomas Wall, Grant Wall, and Ted Wall.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Evergreen Chapel, 2435 E. Canyon Rim Drive, Layton, Utah, Friends may visit with family Friday January 2, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd.
