He is survived by his daughter, Shanna (Larry, Jr.) Baldwin, sons, Aaron Walske, Adam Walske, Mike (Toma) McClintic, Jr., and Nick Lewis, seven grandchildren, two great grandsons, and two sisters, Carol Lammer and Sherry Heer. Preceding him in death was his wife, Lori Kay Walske on December 24, 2017, his parents, granddaughter, Brianna Beerbower, and beloved mother in law, Charlotte Louise (Rosenow) Mercer.
Wayne was a diligent and dedicated worker all his life, which he instilled in his children. He began by working as a Pepsi delivery person, Wayne Manufacturing selling outdoor Christmas decorations to municipalities through out the state of Iowa (that would be a hard sell in summer!), Tones Spices as maintenance mechanic, and finally retiring from Krystal Clean. The children all have fond (?!) memories of being drafted to help with the Krystal Clean jobs during the summer and weekends.
The family worked hard but had good vacations together. Top of the list was Grandma Charlottes cabin at Sun Valley Lake where the kids grew up fishing and swimming. They also loved going to Leon, Iowa for the rodeo, and staying at the Little River Motel guest house for that and fishing at Little River Lake.
Wayne was a bighearted guy, loving to grill out at the drop of a hat for family and friends. Gourmet grilling at its finest: BBQ, hot sausage sandwiches, and cheeseburgers & brats. Yum. Last but not least, he was a diehard Green Bay Packers fan.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Friday, April 21, 2023, Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. Visitation will begin Friday, 11:00am at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 11:00am till 2:00pm service time. Burial will at Oralabor Cemetery, Ankeny, Iowa immediately following the funeral.
