Weldon F. Greeley

PITTSFIELD-Our beloved father, Weldon F. Greeley, 98, passed peacefully on October 20, 2025, with family by his side.
Weldon was born on January 7, 1927, to Marjorie (Hunt) Greeley and Milton Greeley. He graduated from MCI in 1946 and continued his education for two years in the agriculture program at UMO. He married his high school sweetheart, Edna Graham, on March 11, 1950, and they shared 65 years of marriage until her passing in 2015. They built their own home on a piece of land they purchased on Route2 in Pittsfield later known as Rock Maple Farms. They enjoyed dancing and going out to breakfast together. Their favorite spot being the Purple Cow in Fairfield.
After his schooling, he joined his father as a partner on the family potato farm. When his father became ill, he took over the business, and each year he planted 100 acres of potatoes. When his children were older, they and their families worked along with him in the day-to-day running of the farm. He instilled in his children a great work ethic and this was passed down to his grandchildren, who also worked on the farm as soon as they were old enough.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Constellation Hospice: Tracy, Sydnie, Anna, Stephanie, Nancy, and Ale.
He is survived by his three children: Debora Varney, Thomas Greeley and wife Sally, and Steven Greeley and his wife Cheryl; five grandchildren: Stephanie McGinnis and husband Robbie, Brandy Vintinner, Bryan Greeley and partner, Ale' Faria and her daughter Gabriela, Alex Greeley and wife Becky, and Amy Dean and husband Keith; four great-grandchildren: Gage Greeley, Taylor Greeley, Nathan McGinnis and partner Katie, and Elliot Dean; and one great-great-grandson, Parker McGinnis.
He was predeceased by his parents; loving wife Edna; son-in-law, David Varney; and grandson, Chad Vintinner.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, with Pastor Kevin Brooks officiating. A committal will immediately follow at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Ave., Pittsfield. A gathering will be held after and all are welcome.
