Weldon Howell

"Weldon Howell walked his final steps to the stairway to Heaven on December 22, 2025. He was a loving son, husband, father, papa, brother, and friend.

Weldon Howell was born on October 30, 1940, in Spur, Texas, to Clark and Ina Howell, and was raised in Abilene, where he graduated from Abilene High School with the Class of 1959. In his younger years, Weldon trained and broke horses and won numerous awards with his horse, "Lady B." He found great joy in the game of golf and in the simple pleasures of life, valuing time well spent and moments well lived. A devoted and hardworking man, he owned and operated Discount Heat and Air for over 20 years, retiring at the age of 82. Weldon firmly believed in working hard while also enjoying life to the fullest.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronnie Howell, and his wife, Sue; his sister, Janice Sparks, and her husband, Randy; and his beloved granddaughters, Savanna Green and Shelbee Green.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Mary Lou Howell, whom he married in 1982. She was his "sweet thang," and he was her "babe." Weldon was a proud father to five daughters: Denise, Danna Goff, Jamie Ritchie, Jodee Green, and Jackie Young and her husband, Trent. He is also survived by his twin sisters and their spouses, Juddi and Ben Gilmore and Terry and Randy Sparks; his brothers-in-law, Danny Hale and his wife, Brenda; as well as many nieces, nephews, sons-in-law, and brothers-in-law. Weldon was a proud papa to 15 grandchildren and was further blessed with 16 great-grandchildren.

A man of strong faith, Weldon attended Lakeshore Church in Rockwall, Texas, for 28 years, where he faithfully served as an usher and was always willing to help wherever he was needed. His love for the Lord carried him through life's challenges, including his courageous battle with cancer, which he overcame in 2014 through unwavering faith.

Weldon lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him."
