Weldon Albert Hughes (Webb), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 13, 2024, in Southaven, Mississippi, at the age of 86. Born on August 7, 1938, in Possumneck, MS, Weldon was a man of resilience and love, whose impact on those around him will be cherished.

His career was marked by remarkable achievements, as he became the youngest terminal manager in the history of the Petroleum Company, ultimately serving as its Vice President. Weldon was not just a professional success; his heart was equally big. He dedicated himself to his family with countless acts of love and discipline. As a father, he was known to provide for his family without fail, ensuring that his children never went without. In every memory they hold dear, it is the essence of his kind heart and dedication that shines brightly. He once remarked that his greatest pride was found in his family's accomplishments, which he celebrated tirelessly.

Weldon's life was enriched by his hobbies, which included quail hunting, fishing, and, notably, coaching sports. Over the years, he poured his knowledge and spirit into mentoring countless young athletes, sharing the joy and lessons of teamwork and perseverance. His two years at Holmes Junior College, where he excelled in basketball on a scholarship, set the foundation for his lifelong passion for sports and the great outdoors.

He was especially proud of his children—each remarkable in their own right. He beamed with pride as he watched Weldon Jr. achieve a four-year scholarship, and he took joy in Deborah's gymnastics accomplishments, affirming her dedication and talent. Terrell carried forward the family legacy into the petroleum industry, all while Aaron stood by his side in their lawn care business, embodying the values and work ethic Weldon long instilled in his sons.

Weldon is survived by his devoted wife and his greatest love, high school sweetheart of 67 years, Virginia Hughes, and their loving children: Weldon Hughes Jr., Deborah (Ron) Luebbert, Terrell (Janice) Hughes, and Aaron Hughes. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tyler) Laster, Hannah Hughes, Chrissy (Matt) Campbell, Tommy Hager, Haley Luebbert, TJ (Becky) Hughes, Lindsey (Matt) Guidera, Spencer (Tori) Hughes, Little Aaron (Toni) Hughes, and Amy (John) Phillips, along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who were blessed to know his warmth.

He is also remembered by his sister Shirley Inman, and a host of nieces and nephews who carry his spirit in their hearts.

Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, Peaster Leo Hughes Sr. and Mabel Estelle Rodgers Hughes, as well as his siblings, Joan, Leo (Jamie), and his twin sister Joy (WK). They await a joyful reunion where love and memories flourish.

His visitation will take place on December 21, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at The Carter Memorial Chapel at Twin Oaks Funeral Home, starting at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens, following the funeral service at 2:30 PM.

In remembering Weldon Albert Hughes, we acknowledge a life filled with significant accomplishments marked by an unwavering love for family, a dedication to service, and a kindness that touched the hearts of everyone he knew. His legacy of love, pride in his children's achievements, and commitment to his community will continue to inspire those left behind.
