Wendall Suitter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anderson Funeral Home - Augusta on Oct. 15, 2025.
Wendall (Del) Suitter, 1944 to 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Del Suitter in Spirit Lake, ID. After a two-year battle with cancer, he went home to be with the Lord. Del was able to reach his 80th birthday the day before his passing, which is something he so wanted to do.

Del was born in Carroll, Maine and had 11 siblings. As an adult, he joined the Army and followed it by joining the Navy. He has fond memories of his time in the military in Hawaii, where he learned how to fly a plane. He became quite popular, as many of his friends hitched a ride with him to fly to the other islands.

Forty years ago, Del and Virginia married and built a wonderful life together in Fairchild Wisconsin. Thirty years after marriage, at age 69, they packed their bags and moved out to Idaho. For the last ten years, Del and Virginia settled into Spirit Lake, ID in retirement to live in a beautiful mountain setting with deer and moose friends stopping by for a bit to eat and a drink of water. Del invited them to supper every night thereafter. He also made a couple of life-long dreams come true during their life together.

Being a union construction worker most of his life, his carpentry skills set him up for these special projects. While living in Fairchild, he single-handedly built a 3-story addition to their home. At 75 years of age, in Idaho, he built a beautiful 60 x 64-foot blue and red shop on their property. He primarily did this by himself with a little help along the way. It is stunning, to say the least. Del and Virginia enjoyed most evenings watching the deer and moose, with the blue and red shop in the background.

A special memory of his daughter Becky's and growing up is when her dad would take her and her sister, Rachel, to Coon Fork beach in Wisconsin. Into the deep of the water, he lifted Becky up on his shoulders, where she felt 10-feet tall. Because that memory is tattooed into her heart, she now takes her three boys camping and swimming at the same beach.

The last words between Del and Virginia were, I love you, then Virginia said, "I love you more Papa", and Del said, "I'll catch up."

Del is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, of 40 years, daughters Becky Rennhack and Rachel Dryden, grandsons, Ash, Aiden, and Avery. In addition, he had 4 step-children - David McGaver, Ann McGaver, Mary Herman and Rhonda McGaver, and a total of 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He also has one sister yet in Maine, Elsie Seavey.

He was predeceased by his parents, 10 siblings and mother & father-in law, Leon, and Agnes (Mum) Edmundson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 312 S Stone Street, Augusta, WI . Friends may call 1 hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
