Wendell Hinton Obituary

Wendell Hinton, at the age of 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 next to his wife of 53 years. He was born on October 3, 1949 to Lovelace Hinton and Florence (Lewis) Hinton in Detroit, Michigan.
He graduated high school a year early and traveled down south to go to college at Alabama A&M university where he majored in Electrical Engineering. During his time at college, he met his wife Alma Deloris Colvin. They married in Letohatchiee, Alabama and moved to Olney, Maryland in 1983. From this union they had one daughter, Alma Chenise Hinton (Miller).
Wendell enjoyed muscle cars, particularly his 1976 Chevy Camaro. He would visit Carlisle, PA often to buy parts so he could refurbish it. He was also an avid bass fisherman and competed in many competitions. His favorite past time was taking his blue and silver boat on the Patuxent River.
One of his greatest joys was hanging out with his four grandsons where he could talk about his childhood and lessons he learned during adolescent. He had a passion for IT, specifically network architecture. His network was so secure it was impossible to use the wifi at his home in Olney, MD.
Later in life, he joined the Lutheran Church of St. Andrew where he would often serve during communion and work out in the church's gym on Tuesdays.
Wendell is preceded in death by his brother, Orlando Hinton. He is survived by his wife, Alma; daughter, Alma Chenise (Wesley R. Miller); and grandsons Wesley Judge, Jaxson Wendell Wesley, Louis Colvin Wesley, and Joseph Wesley Raymond Whiteside. He was beloved by his Detroit family; Peter "Uncle Pete" Banks, Bill Harris, the Goldsby Brothers, and his cousin Angie. He also cherished relationships with longtime friend Willie Mitchell, and lifetime family neighbors, Tony & Joyce Amatucci.
