Wendy Blacksmith Obituary

Wendy Blacksmith

March 19, 1950 - September 10, 2025

Wendy Blacksmith, age 75, passed away on September 10, 2025, at UPMC Carlisle, surrounded by family and friends.

Wendy was born on Sunday, March 19, 1950, in Carlisle, Pa., to Marlin and Kathryn (Hostetter) Finkenbinder.

She was a 1968 graduate of Big Spring High School.

She began her career as a civilian employee at the Army War College in Carlisle, before working in customer service and sales at United Telephone/Sprint/Embarq. In her retirement years, she went back to work at the Army War College Golf Course. Wendy had a passion for softball; she spent many years in the local Carlisle Recreational League. She loved to travel to the beach, the New England area where she loved going to and looking at the lighthouses and enjoyed antique shows.

She is survived by her family: brother, Robert (wife Victoria) Finkenbinder of Carlisle; nephew, Todd (wife Yvette) Finkenbinder of Wisconsin; Joyce Brehm (aunt) of Linglestown; cousins, Carol (husband Wayne) Finkey of Carlisle, Chris Bitner of Plainfield, Richard (wife Shari) Finkenbinder, Seth (wife Amanda) Finkey of Carlisle, and Ryan (wife Kelly) Finkey of Carlisle, Jake (wife Jessica) Bitner of Newville, Amy Bitner of Plainfield, and Jason Finkenbinder.

Wendy was also lucky to have been given the opportunity to love and spend her life on those who mattered most to her, including all of her extended family and dearly beloved cousins.

No public services will be held at the request of Wendy; a private memorial will be held at the convenience of the family. www.HoffmanFH.com
