Werner Seitter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapel Hill Mortuary & Memorial Gardens - Cedar Hill on May 16, 2025.
Werner E. Seitter passed away Monday, May 12, 2025, at age 91, with his family by his side. Beloved son of the late Hedwig and Eugen Seitter; loving husband of Gladys Seitter (nee Matute); devoted father of Heidi (Joseph Collier) Seitter, Eric Seitter, Mark Seitter, Karl-Heinz Seitter, Hedy (William) Gollaher; dearest Opa of Natasia Seitter, Michael Seitter, Anna-Marie Seitter, Karasu Towerwatcher, Riker Buddemeyer, and Samuel (Harley) Seitter; and brother of the late Egon (Gertraude) Seitter, and cousin to those residing in Germany and Europe, with their families.
Werner was born on August 14, 1933 in Mannheim, Germany, and moved to the United States in 1955. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a translator for his regiment in Germany. When he came back to the United States he met the love of his life, Gladys, on a blind date while living in New York City. They married on October 8, 1960, in Manhattan and started a family. He had a career in sales management, primarily in optical and surgical equipment, and retired after more than 40 years. He worked for several St. Louis companies: Global Surgical Corporation, Seiler Instrument Company and Storz Instrument Company.
Werner could achieve anything he set his mind to, and he devoted himself whole-heartedly to every project. He was fascinated with photography and even built his own darkroom. Werner loved music, and acquired an extensive collection of classical music over the years. He also loved animals, especially Great Pyrenees and Dachshunds.
Werner truly had a green thumb, there wasn't an orchid or African violet he couldn't revive! He enjoyed sailing and fishing, and he taught all of his kids how to cast a line and bring in a good catch. He was very inquisitive and loved learning new things; he was an enthusiastic woodworker and made cabinets, bookcases, tables, and so much more for his family. He was a collector of coins, stamps and model trains, and in his later years he became a fan of space science and was very knowledgeable regarding politics.
Werner was a generous, helpful and wonderful man who made an impression on many people. He loved to talk, and share his thoughts and opinions with others on just about anything.
