Werner Thomsen, 82, of Columbia, NJ, passed away on August 20, 2025.

Born on September 25, 1942, in Flensburg, Germany, to the late Werner Johannes and

Christine Marie (Fries) Thomsen, Werner lived a life marked by hard work, dedication,

and love for his family.

Werner completed his plumbing apprenticeship in Germany. In 1961, at the age of 18,

he immigrated to the United States to live with relatives in Teaneck, NJ, where he took a

job at a paper factory as he learned the US culture and the English language. He went

on to proudly serve his new country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era

from 1963 to 1970.

Following his service, Werner established a long and successful career as a master

plumber Warriner Smith Inc. in New Windsor, NY. Known for his strong work ethic and

skill, he was respected by colleagues and clients alike.

Outside of work, Werner enjoyed playing soccer and participated in an amateur league

for many years. Above all, his greatest passion was his family, to whom he devoted his

life.

Werner was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nina. He is survived by his beloved

children, Kevin (Laurie), Dennis (Christina), and Krissy Kise (Eric); his cherished

grandchildren, Gabbi (Kevin), Sarah and her fiancé Ty, Jeremy (McKenna), Ashley

(Yanuel), Brian, Jake, and Cammi; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Wesley,

Violet, and Wilder. He is also survived by his dear siblings, Johannes and Edeltraud.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 2–4 PM, with Words of

Remembrance at 4 PM, at Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown, NJ.

Werner's legacy of love, commitment, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of

his family and friends.
