Wesley (Dick) Edward Dixon, of Ocala met Jesus face to face on March 29, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Dick was born in Shiloh, Florida to the late William & Elizabeth Dixon on May 9, 1931 and was a lifelong resident of Ocala. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy on the USS Bairokoduring the Korean War. He was an active member and deacon of Kendrick Baptist Church. He loved golfing, wood working, growing and giving away citrus fruits,spending time with his family and could do anything he set his mind on. He was Vice President of Sales for Pillans & Smith (Kraft) for over 35 years in the food distributionbusiness before his retirement. In his retirement, Dick started and maintained a vending business as well as a courier route for Sonny’s Bar-B-Que and Heritage Management. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Alvin Dixon, and his sister, Anita Dixon.
Dick is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years Avis Dixon. Children Cyndi Willis, Terri Large (Lee), Wesley E. “Chip”Dixon JR. (Tami), Kim Rose (Tim). Brother, Paul Dixon (Yvonne), and sister Betty Yawn. 9 devoted and loving grandchildren- Rob, Reagan, Wesley “Trey”, Kyle, Brittani, Dakota, Alyssa, Bethany, & Mark, 13 great-grandchildren, and Daisy, his best four-legged friend.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 5, at City Light Church in Ocala (4645 E Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470) at 11:00 a.m. and Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m.
Pastors Tim Rose, David Butts & Elwood Baker will be officiating.
Burial will be at Shiloh Methodist Church (11020 NW Hwy 320, Micanopy, FL 32667) under the direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations are made to Kendrick Baptist Church. Donations can be mailed to 3020 NW 62nd St, Ocala, FL 34475.
