Wesley Thomas Jennings (Weso) was born February 26, 1961, and passed away with a smile in his home telling a story on November 15, 2025, at the age of 64. He was born in Beeville, Texas, to Betty Jean (Emmons) Jennings and Thomas (Tom) Franklin Jennings. Wesley started first grade in Mathis and then moved to George West where he finished his education.

Wesley was a lifelong cowboy, fluent in Spanish, an avid welder, hunter, camp cook, jack of all trades, and storyteller.

Growing up, he helped his dad, Tom Jennings, work cattle for the Dougherty Ranch. Wesley lived in Dilley, Texas, where he owned Jennings Feed Store and Trailer Sales. That is where he met his soulmate, Monte Del. He sweet talked Monte Del (Varnon) Jennings into being his partner on July 1, 1994. He brought her home to George West to be closer to family. Wesley was a natural cowboy, avid welder, gauger, and hunter. He later became a wonderful camp cook and grand storyteller.

Wesley and Monte, along with their crews, built many miles of barbed wire and deer fence with Encino Fence Service. For the last 18 years, Wesley and Monte enjoyed their time together shredding local ranches and right of ways with WM Tractor Service.

It brought Wesley great joy to teach many young kids how to rope, ride a horse, work cattle, coon and hog hunt, skin a deer, weld, build fence, and build metal barns. Those kids were family to him, and teaching sparked his love of storytelling and cooking, which brought together many family and friends.

Wesley was preceded in death by his infant brother, Keith Wayne Jennings, who passed in December 1963; his brother-in-law, Richard Wayne Otto, in May 1996; and his parents, Thomas (Tom) Franklin Jennings in May 2020, and Betty Jean (Emmons) Jennings in October 2022.

Wesley is survived by his wife of 31 years, Monte Del (Varnon) Jennings; and his stepchildren, Christine Elizabeth (Michael) DuBose, and Clayton Thomas (Stacey) Overstreet. He is also survived by his sisters, Darlene Denise (Rusty) Oxford, and Sherri Lynn (Bubba) Nelson.

He was blessed with his granddaughters, Saeleigh and Shambryn DuBose; his nephews and nieces, Brandon (Mandy) Oxford, Sherry Oxford (Bubba) Beasley, Cody Thomas (Kayce) Oxford, Byron Robert (Jennifer) Oxford, Kyle Wayne (Jena) Otto, and Peyton (Julio) Coronado; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Peyton Oxford, Hadley Oxford, Abcde (Abby) Kinkade, Cutter Beasley, Cale Thomas Oxford, Kullen Raye Oxford, Ryleigh Nelson, Henley Teal Oxford, and Blane Russell Oxford, along with many friends he considered family.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Brush Country Cowboy Church. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Brush Country Cowboy Church in George West. Burial will follow at George West Cemetery.

A reception and meal will follow funeral services on Wednesday at Brush Country Cowboy Church in George West.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Brown, Brandon Oxford, Cody Oxford, Byron Oxford, Kyle Otto, Heath Gonzales, Toby Holland, and Earl Fischer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Geffert, Robert Schuford, Matt Martin, Charlie Snider, Bill Poole, Doug Strause, Robert Fox, Tom Bartlett and Jim Cochran.
