Wesley Wiltz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gardner’s Funeral Home - Angleton on Dec. 10, 2025.
Wesley Joseph Wiltz, lovingly known as "Pokey," was born on Saturday, March 4, 1972, in Houston, Texas. He grew up surrounded by love, faith, and a strong sense of community-values that shaped the man he became. Wesley was a devoted son to the late Lester Ann Lavan, a loving husband to Deborah Gasaway, a proud father to his children, and a cherished brother. To all who knew him, he was a kind and generous soul, and a faithful friend whose presence brought warmth and comfort.
From a young age, Pokey discovered his passion for track and field-a gift he shared freely with those around him. His exceptional talent and dedication led to his induction into the Brazoswood High School Hall of Fame. He later became a business owner, starting with his own car wash, and went on to become a true serial entrepreneur, selling everything from food to tires, which earned him the nickname "Tire Man." Pokey had the gift of gab-he could sell you that the sky is green-and if there was money to be made, Pokey was there. His relentless hustle and entrepreneurial spirit were admired by all.
Wesley will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering optimism, and his profound love for life. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and personal brilliance that will continue to uplift and inspire generations to come. And let's be honest-the saying "he'll give you the shirt off his back" was made for Pokey or Lorenzo whichever version of him you met first. He'd give you the shirt off his back, his last dollar, AND probably try to sell you something at the same time. lol.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Gasaway; his children, Kiera, Davion, Justin, Cheetara, Keith, Antoinette, aniyah and Chantel. his grandchildren, Jordan, JaKayla, Haven, Khenzi and Jenesis. He also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings Stephon "Peanut" Wiltz (Kolhonda), Gistar "June" Lavan, Gerald Lavan, and his sister Sharanettia Payne (Quinton), along with a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.
Wesley was preceded in death by his mother, Lester Ann Lavan, and we take comfort in knowing she welcomed him home with open arms. Though the weight of our loss is heavy, we find solace in the precious memories he leaves behind and in the love he shared so generously.
