Westine E. Lepper
Age 98, of East Tawas, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on October 27, 2025. Westine was born to the late Edward and Ella (Alderton) Roe on August 10, 1927, in Hillman, Michigan. She spent her childhood in South Branch, Michigan, and was a proud graduate of Mio High school, Class of 1947. Following her high school graduation, she married the love of her life, Irwin Lepper, on August 17, 1947. The two of them began their lives together in South Branch and remained residents in the area for an additional 45+ years. They shared 40 amazing years of marriage before Irwin's passing in 1987. The couple raised a family of four children, all of whom Westine adored dearly. They were the light of her life, and she enjoyed spending every moment she could with them.
Westine was a cook at Timbers Steakhouse in South Branch for 35 years until her retirement in 1985. She was an incredible cook, and really enjoyed working at Timbers. In the early 1990's, she relocated to East Tawas, Michigan, to be closer to her children, and that is where she spent the remainder of her life. Some of Westine's favorite hobbies consisted of crocheting, cooking, canning, gardening, picking on her sons-in-law, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She was a part of the Ladies Auxiliary on the South Branch Fire Department and was a member at the Lake Huron Community Church. Westine was an honest, welcoming, unselfish, and loving person, and she will be missed dearly by many.
Westine is survived by her three daughters, Patsy (Paul) MacMelville, Ruth (Harold) Rupert, and Dorothy Marchbanks; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Edward and Ella, Westine is preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Irwin Lepper; son, Irwin A. Lepper; four sisters; two brothers; and her son-in-law, Raymond L. Marchbanks.
