Lamar was a 1954 graduate of Hernando High School and a long time resident of Desoto County. He is remembered for his kindness, his giving spirit and for his devout Christian faith. Lamar was a former volunteer fire chief for the Nesbit Fire Department, a Sunday School teacher and deacon of his church and served in the MS Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruthie, and a son, Leslie Lamar Manning. A sister, Margie Meserve, also preceded him.
Lamar leaves behind a daughter, Donna Cousino (Jeff), and a son, Chris Manning, both of Southaven. He also leaves 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Hernando Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held immediately following at Nesbit Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Nesbit Building Fund.
