Whorton A. Collier passed peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the age of 81 and is now with Jesus. Whorton was born June 29, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to his parents, Rhea Bud Collier I and Ruby Inez (Smith) Collier. On January 23, 1965, Whorton married Sharon Ann Rose and together shared more than 46 years of marriage. It was Whorton's life's desire to be obedient to the Lord and minister to all that God sent his way. Whorton was a member of Newcastle Christian Church, where you would find him greeting and passing out bulletins! He enjoyed spending time with his family, his friends and his church family. He will be deeply missed.
Whorton was preceded in death by his:
Wife: Sharon Collier
Daughter: Cathy Collier Ramsell Parents: Rhea Bud and Ruby Inez Collier Sisters: Rheamah Lange, June Straka and Claudette Bell
Whorton momentarily leaves behind him: Children: Billy Collier and wife, Michelle and Amy Neff Grandchildren: Ashlon Collier, Parker Stovall and wife Veronica, Corrigan Neff, Haden Stovall, Eden Ramsell, and Ethan Newville Great-granddaughters: Leah Collier and Rey Wesbrook Brother: Rhea "Buddy" Collier Brother-in-law: Johnnie Bell As well as many extended nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Whorton really knew how to embrace every aspect of JOY in the everyday. He loved playing games of all kinds, excelling in card and trivia games. He especially loved games that made you think and strategize! Whorton loved learning about everyone God sent to him, from learning where a stranger grew up to hearing how people he knew grew and matured, especially in the Lord. Whorton was quick witted with a good joke. Once he knew your name he would remember it for life.
Whorton was well known for his ministry, J.O.Y Puppets, with Antioch Christian Church. For many, many years, he poured into young people while traveling the country with them, spreading the word of Christ. Through this ministry, his kids, as he called them, saw what a Godly man and Christian Leader looked like. His imprint on their lives helped make them who they are today.
It is said, "You live forever through the people you love and touch." If that is true, his legacy will last for generations.
