Wilbert Nelson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 2, 2025.
Wilbert 0. "Woody" Nelson, 86, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24th at 9:30 a.m. at his home near Tomball, Tx.
Woody was born March 27th, 1938 in Mishawaka, Indiana, moved to Texas in 1953 at the age of 15, and later graduated from Pasadena High School. He worked several years in the mortgage banking business before beginning a long successful career as a commercial real estate appraiser in the Houston area.
He met the love of his life while working in the Prudential Building in Houston. He and Annice were married in 1961 and shared a beautiful life together for 63 years.
Woody enjoyed hunting, fishing, travelling, working on his land, and playing the guitar, becoming an accomplished musician early in life, and continuing into his later years entertaining countless people through his playing. Perhaps his greatest joy, though, was spending time with his grandchildren on his acreage he filled with trails, bridges, a pool, a trampoline, and a zip line.
Woody served his Lord faithfully through his church and other outreaches, serving on the elder board and supporting numerous community and mission ministries such as Gideons International and church-based missionaries abroad.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Edith Nelson, brothers Walt Nelson and Maynard Nelson, and sisters, Joyce Selby and Selma Cavanaugh. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Annice Nelson, son Kent Nelson and Sally, son Rod Nelson and Dawn, granddaughter Emily Bourgeois and husband Ryan, granddaughter Eliza Falzone and husband Jared, and grandson Alex Nelson -along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 1:00 p.m. at Cypress Bible Church. 11711 Cypress North Houston Rd., Cypress, TX 77429
