Potosi - Wilbert E. “Bill” Post, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He was born on March 27, 1931, in Leland, WI, the son of Edward and Ida (Raddatz) Post. Bill was a Korean War Veteran enlisting in the United States Army at the age of 17 in December 1948, serving until June 1952. He was in the 115 Engineer Company B, being awarded the Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Campaign Stars, Purple Heart, and Bronze Star for his dedicated service to his country. 

Bill married Irene Jacobson on January 8, 1952, in Avoca, WI. He was employed at Dubuque John Deere Tractor Works for 27 years, working primarily as a carpenter and later as a crane operator on the steel dock. Bill enjoyed working on cars, fishing, and hunting with friends and family. After retiring he and Irene often traveled in their motor home to locations in Wisconsin to camp and fish. 

 Survivors include his children: Steve (Ann) Post; Terry (Brenda) Post; Tim (Patty) Post; Tammy (Terry) Monroe; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, son Dennis, granddaughter Jeannie Post, and grandson David Post. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Potosi with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 473 and VFW Post 5276 in British Hollow Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials will be given to the Potosi Fire Department and Potosi EMS. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory of Potosi is assisting the family.
