"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Wilbur Johnson, age 78, of Effingham, South Carolina. Mr. Johnson peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Wilbur Johnson, affectionately known as "Bean," was born on April 29, 1947, in Florence County, South Carolina, to the late Willie Lee Johnson and Eula Mae Kirven.
Wilbur was educated in the Florence Public School System. He was a hard worker who dedicated much of his life to the skilled trade of welding. Later in life, he pursued his passion as a fence installer for residential and commercial properties. He was employed by Zucor before branching out as a self-employed contractor.
Wilbur was a man known for his crafty hands and his friendly spirit. He enjoyed spending time with friends and was cherished by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee Johnson and Eula Mae Kirven, and ten siblings: Dillion, Earl, Jimmy, Daniel, Johnny, Larry, Sammy Gene, Annie Ruth, and Novalene McFadden.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lucille Johnson of Effingham, SC, and leaves behind five beloved children: Tyrone (Marena) Muldrow, Wilbur Johnson II, Lisa (Deontrae) Odom, Alonzo Johnson, and Lawanda Johnson. He is also remembered by three loving siblings: Sylvia (William) Muldrow, Richard Johnson, and Marlene Legett. Wilbur's legacy continues through his twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of cherished family members and dear friends. His presence, laughter, and love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Zion Temple Holiness Church Timmonsville.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they journey through this time of loss and remembrance.
