Wiley Theodore McCall was born on January 12, 1949, in Bradenton, Florida, to Wiley Eli McCall, Jr. and Barbara Tompkins McCall. He built his life with his beloved wife, Nancy Jane Brown McCall to whom he was married for over 54 years. He worked in citrus and in numerous other fields of agriculture including farming, sod and cattle.
Teddy was a die-hard Gator and Tampa Bay Bucs fan and did not mind calling at any hour to tell how he felt about the latest game, especially if your team lost. He loved his cooking shows, the Major League Baseball Channel and Fox News. He was passionate about cooking, collecting pocketknives, guns, loved the land but one of the things he treasured most was hosting Thanksgiving. It was a lot of work but he did not care because more than anything, Teddy loved his family, and he definitely considered Nancy's family as part of his own. Being a husband, father and Pappa were his greatest joys in life. To his family, he was their biggest fan, fiercest protector and best friend. He did not have a lot of "very best friends" but those of you who filled that role know who you are.
Wiley T. was a person you could never forget. He didn't judge, knew how to make you feel loved and left you realizing how important you were to him. His kindness and generosity will long be remembered.
Teddy is the beloved husband of Nancy Jane, his adoring wife and is survived by her; his mother, Barbara Tompkins McCall Brown; his son, Bryant R. McCall; his daughter,Melissa Suzanne McCall-Chandler (Michael); two grandchildren, Chance Theodore McCall and Chaselyn Jane McCall-Chandler; his brothers, Michael McCall, Patrick McCall (Sue) and Sean McCall (Lisa); his sister, Kandi Swaford Snow (Mike); a bonus brother, David Vowell; a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; and many friends who became family.
Wiley Theodore "Teddy" departed this world on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Wiley Eli McCall, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Wiley Eli McCall, Sr. and Maude Cecil Ratliff McCall "Mama McCall"; his maternal grandparents, Dewey Tomkins and Daisy Tomkins; and his bonus brother, Oren "Big O" Bitting.
As our niece so appropriately said, "He is the guy who left footprints on your heart."
Visitation will be held 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Ortona Cemetery Pavillion. Interment will follow at Ortona Cemetery.
