Wilhemena Jones George, a beacon of laughter and selflessness, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, on her 83rd birthday, in Greenville, NC. Born on October 3, 1942, in Jasper, SC, Wilhemena was a source of joy and considerate gestures throughout her life, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Widow of the late Martin George, she was also preceded in death by her younger sisters Almeta Johnson and Alice Jones. Wilhemena's legacy of love and laughter continues through her surviving sister, Mary Jones, her daughters, Victoria L. George, Crystal Farota, and Selena George, her grandchildren Kanasia J. George, Mercedes A. George, Tyrik M. George, and great-grandchild Alana R. Bass.
Those who knew Wilhemena will remember her for the music that filled her home, the dance steps she shared with everyone who visited, and the delicious meals that she lovingly prepared. She found her greatest joy in the outdoors, under the warmth of the sun, surrounded by the sounds of nature, and in the company of her cherished grandchildren, who were the heartbeat of her existence.
Wilhemena lived by the philosophy, "Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever," a quote famously attributed to Walt Disney. This sentiment was reflected in her enduring sense of humor that brought comfort and happiness to her family and friends. Her thoughtfulness knew no bounds; she selflessly put the needs of others before her own, earning her the respect and admiration of her community.
As we bid farewell to Wilhemena, we celebrate a life lived with boundless generosity and unwavering care. Her spirit will remain a guiding light for her family, inspiring them to live with the same kindness and dedication that she so effortlessly embodied.
Wilhemena's life was a testament to the beauty of nurturing relationships and the importance of cherishing every shared moment. As we honor her memory, we take solace in the warmth of our recollections, the stories of joy, and the laughter that will echo in our hearts forever.
A private ceremony will be held, where Wilhemena's life will be commemorated in the presence of her close family and friends. Her story will be told, her favorite songs will be played, and her love for dance will inspire her final send-off.
Her family expresses immense gratitude to have been blessed with such a remarkable woman. Wilhemena's influence will continue to be felt through the lives she has shaped and the love she has spread. She will be deeply missed, but we are comforted by the knowledge that her spirit will live on through the echoes of her enduring love and the vibrant memories she leaves behind.
