Willard K. "Bill" Boldenow, 96, of Hutchinson, died May 19, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1929, in Hoisington, to William J. and Helen C. (Lettau) Boldenow.
Bill graduated from Hoisington High School, Kansas State University, and received a master's degree in education from Fort Hays State University. He served with the 40th Infantry Division in the United States Army from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Korea. Bill began his career as a high school sports coach and then went to work as an underwriter for Travelers Insurance and lived in Kansas City, Minneapolis, MN, and Cleveland, OH, before returning to Kansas and working as an agent for State Farm Insurance. He retired as a sales rep for Roberts Hutch-Line. Bill was an avid golfer and fan of K-State Wildcat football and basketball. He was a member of the Lions club as well as other clubs and organizations. Bill went on Kansas Honor Flight #15 to Washington, DC, in 2014. He was a life member of K-State Alumni Association and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
On February 5, 1956, Bill married Marilyn F. Miller in Burdett. She survives.
Also surviving are: nieces, Debbie Adams of Hutchinson, Sheila Knoll (Gary) of Topeka, Tanya Behnke (Wayne) of Bushton, Kathy Cmelik of Yukon, OK, Lori Kade (Tony) of Granbury, TX; nephews, Craig Black (Joni) of Emporia, Jon Devine (Jriz) of Fort Worth, TX; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bonnie Black and her husband, George.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th Ave., Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
