Willard Falls Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home on Dec. 29, 2025.
Willard Dale Falls, 84, of Fairmont, WV, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He was born on August 9, 1941, in Valley Fork, West Virginia, the son of the late Chester and Leona (Strawderman) Falls.
Willard was a graduate of East Fairmont High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably as a communications center specialist with the 592nd Signal Company. While stationed in Germany, Willard met the love of his life, Margarethe Anna (née Nega) Falls. After his honorable discharge, he relocated with his family to Chicago, Illinois. Throughout his life, Willard remained deeply connected to the veterans' community, forming lasting bonds with fellow service members. In retirement, Willard and Margarethe returned to West Virginia, where they enjoyed their later years together.
Willard is fondly remembered by his family and friends for his remarkable sense of humor, his loving devotion to his family, and his unwavering support for those he held dear. He played an active role in raising his grandchildren, offering steady guidance, patience, and unconditional love. His impact on the lives of those who knew him was profound, and he will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Margaret (Terry) Tyrrell, Karen Wells; grandchildren: Nichole Watson, Karen Burns, Kristine Falls, Kevin Falls, Joseph Rosellini, and Angela Rosellini-Labombarde; sisters: Mary Katherine Riffle, Sharon Jean Summers and Greta Shipley, and several great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years Margarethe Anna Falls, son Willard "Butch" Falls, Jr., brothers Johnny Falls, Floyd Darrell Falls, and sister Zella Haddox.
Family and friends can gather at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, on Thursday January 1, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday January 2, 2026, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am with Pastor Cherly White.
