Willard Dean Hazelitt Jr.

Willard "Bill" Dean Hazelitt, 76, Leavenworth, KS, formerly of Oskaloosa, KS, passed away March 8, 2026 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS.

A rosary will be said at 11 am Wednesday March 18, 2026 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:30pm at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.

Bill was born July 11, 1949 in Richmond, CA, the son of Willard Dean Sr. and Willa (Lacy) Hazelitt. He lived in many places before his family settled in Lansing Kansas where he primarily grew up and graduated High School. After High School he served in the U.S. Airforce and was a Vietnam Veteran. After returning from the Airforce he worked for Hallmark Cards in Leavenworth. He then went to Mortuary College earning a degree in Mortuary Science and went on to become a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, and twin siblings john Anthony and Ruth Antoinette. .

Survivors include; his ex-wife and caregiver, Genevieve Lurquin-Hazelitt, Leavenworth, KS; one son, Willard "Bill" D. Hazelitt III, Leavenworth; two sisters, Theresa Tilton, Highland, KS, Deborah Foley, Bonner Springs, KS; one granddaughter, Anna-Jean Marie Hazelitt; and several Nieces and Nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations in his name to the Parkinson's Foundation.
