Willard Maas Obituary

Willard Edward Maas, of Ogdensburg, age 89, almost 90, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife by his side.

Willard was born on May 30, 1936, in Appleton to William and Esther (Erdman) Maas. In July of 1959, he met the love of his life, Julie Ann Van Munn, at the Outagamie County Fair where he stole her heart. The couple was united in marriage on June 18, 1960, beginning nearly 66 years of devoted love and marriage.

Together, Willard and Julie were blessed with four children: Dawn (Mike) Timm of Weyauwega; Kevin (Liza) Maas of Weyauwega; Donna (Clinton) Danke of New London; and Daniel (Karen Reeck) Maas of Ogdensburg.

Willard dedicated over 60 years of his life to his work as a mechanic. He proudly operated his own business, Willard's Welding and Repair, for many years and continued working up until his final days - a true testament to his strong work ethic and passion for his craft. He was well known and respected for his skill, honesty, and willingness to help others.

A lifelong tractor and engine enthusiast, Willard enjoyed attending as many gas and steam engine shows as he could. These events brought him great joy and allowed him to connect with others who shared his passion.

Willard is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Julie; three of his children Dawn, Kevin, and Donna; six grandchildren: Melanie (Eric) Pynenberg of Manawa; Michelle (Adam) Krisher of Ogdensburg; Nicolas Danke (fiancée Libby Breister) of Brillion; Ryan Danke (fiancée Alex Stolzman) of Kaukauna; Julia (Anthony) Garcia, currently stationed in Japan; and Bryce Maas of Weyauwega; ten great-grandchildren: Tyler (girlfriend Kayla), Brent (girlfriend Olivia), Garron, Julius, Leilyn, Oaklyn, Daxton, Rubyanne, Eldon, and Lowell; and one great-great-granddaughter, Gwynevere. Many other relatives and friends that have become as close as family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther; his youngest son, Daniel Maas; his sisters, Betty Noack and Lois Cain; and his baby brother, Kenneth.

A visitation for Willard, that will celebrate his life, will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 3-7 pm at the Dahlke Life Celebration Center in Weyauwega. In honor of Willard, everyone is invited to dress in red and black.

Willard will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his tireless work ethic, and his love of engines and machinery. His legacy lives on through the many hands he helped, the machines he repaired, and the family he cherished deeply. And just remember "If it ain't red leave it in the shed!"
