With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Willard Ray Tarno, a proud United States Air Force Veteran. He passed away on June 12th, 2025.

He was born on May 14th, 1945 in Flint, Michigan. he joined the Air Force in 1964 and retired in 1985. Stationed in various bases throughout the United States and abroad including 3 tours to Vietnam, Germany and Greece contributing to numerous operations that upheld values of duty. Where he served as a Security Specialist for his marksmanship and Graphics Technician for his artistic abilities. His Achievements include art in the Military Smithsonian Museum; Golden Screen Award for his "A Great Way of Life" advertisement; An Air Force float of his design and creation in the following parades: Indianapolis 500 parade, the Football Hall of Fame parade, and the Sugar Bowl parade. Awarded National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, & Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters to name a few.

Will Tarno is survived by his wife, Brenda Tarno; children Kim Remmers (Joel) of Nebraska, Nicole Venglar (Steve) of Texas; grandchildren Justin Remmers, Alaethea Bartos (Chip), Benjamin Remmers (Christina), Sean Venglar (Fatima), and Eric Venglar; great-grandchildren Harper Bartos and Jett Bartos.

He was preceded in death by his parents Willard S Tarno and Alta (Tarno) Coffey, parents-in-laws Kenneth & Maxine Elliott, sister Barbara Tarno, and brother Henry Tarno.

A friends and family memorial will be held at  the Village United Methodist Church, Thursday, June 26th at 2pm. Arrangements for transportation from Lake Forest to the church will be set up.

In lieu of flowers please give memorial gifts to Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute in Hot Springs.
