Willia L. Bullock passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, after a period of illness, at the age of 89.
Born on November 19, 1935, in Roberta, Georgia, to the late Willie and Bessie Banks, Willia grew up surrounded by family, faith, and southern roots that shaped her warm spirit and generous heart. She moved to Boston as a young girl, where she met and married her sweetheart, Richard Bullock Sr. It was love at first sight. She was a devoted wife of nearly 72 years, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Willia was a faithful member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she served as a Deaconess, Missionary, and choir member. A quiet yet strong pillar in her family, church, and community, she will be remembered for her contagious smile, quick wit, unwavering, and unconditional love.
She taught all who knew her the true meaning of unconditional love, patience, resilience, the joy of laughter, and compassion. And of course, her family and friends will forever smile, remembering her famous tea biscuits-no matter how hard they've tried, none of her daughters has been able to master them. According to her husband, Richard, "They're good, but not like your mother's."
Willia is preceded in death by her younger siblings, James Banks, Joe Banks (Bessie), Della McCleod (Billie), Johnnie Banks, as well as her beloved son, Charles "Charlie" Bullock.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Richard Lee Bullock, Sr., children, Richard Jr. (Brenda), Elaine, Robert (Brenda), James (Cheryl), Carolyn, Jonathan, Pauline, Bernice, Sharon, Willia "Cookie", Kenneth, Sandra, and Sharlene; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She also leaves to cherish her beloved younger brother, Obie Banks Sr. (Sammie).
Though her presence will be missed, the love she gave and the lessons she taught will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
