Berryman Funeral Home - CozadWilliam ‘Bill’ Sinor, former Cozad resident, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025 at Kearney Regional Medical Center at the age of 87.
William Howard “Bill” Sinor was a son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was many things to so many people. He was quick with a smile and a joke, had a great laugh, and a naturally welcoming personality. Depending on the gathering you could find him dancing, playing cards, or storytelling with an ability that was unmatched. His family and friends were his greatest treasures, he loved his weekly sibling phone calls, getting his daughters on the dance floor, and attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren's plays, recitals, and concerts.
Born in Hershey, NE on February 23, 1938, to Floyd and Arlene (Morris) Sinor, the second of five children, 4 boys and the youngest a girl, he grew up on family farms learning the skills that would shape his life and careers. He was a Cozad High School graduate in 1955 and earned a “doctorate in real world knowledge” throughout his life.
Music and dancing was an important part of Bill’s life from early on. He had fond memories of barn dances with his mother playing piano as a child. He had three dance partners that held great importance to him. His partners complemented his eras throughout the years.
Bill married Sondra (Stubbs) in 1957 in Denver, CO and they were blessed with two daughters Lisa and Sue, who were always the light of his life. He was a natural salesman and entrepreneur. Bill and Sondra farmed near Cozad in his early life, then worked alongside each other selling “Figurettes”, owned the Caesar’s Lounge in Cozad, developed real estate, and owned rental properties. They were partners in life, love, and business until Sondra’s passing in 1998.
After losing Sondra, Bill met and married Donna (Payton). The time with Donna was a slower paced life. They moved to a home in rural Sarbon, Nebraska where they enjoyed the outdoors, raising horses, hunting, fishing, and hosting family in their bunk house. Dancing continued to be a constant. Donna was Bill’s partner for over 20 years.
Bill spent his last years enjoying family, friends, and new adventures. Dancing, as always, was an outlet for socializing, exercising, and pure joy. Through this, he met dance partner Joanna Morris. Joanna and Bill traveled, attended concerts and cultural events, multiple weekly dances, and just enjoyed life.
Bill was an adventurer at heart. He broke horses, rodeoed, toured the country on a Honda Goldwing, backpacked the mountains with his brothers, and collected classic cars. He commented, only half joking, that climbing Mount Everest was on his “bucket list”. No experience was limited by his drive.
As a “jack of all trades” he enjoyed woodworking, construction, and could build or fix nearly anything, including a house from the ground up. He worked for Nebraska Plastics as a machine operator until his retirement in 2000, and helped repair the antique machinery at the Lincoln County Historical Museum. As a member of the Cozad Elks Lodge #2250 he served in multiple capacities including Exalted Ruler in 1980. He was later also active in the Eagles.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Arlene (Morris) Sinor, wife Sondra Sinor, brother Jerry Sinor, wife Donna Sinor, nephew Bryan Sinor and brother Morris Sinor.
Bill is survived by daughter Lisa Kvasnicka of Cozad, NE, daughter Sue (Warren) Harris of Edmond OK, grandson Ryan Lerdall of Fort Leavenworth, KS, great granddaughters Isabella, McKenna, and Lyla, grandson Lonnie “Levi” (Cassy) Kvasnicka and great grandchildren Liam and Lila of Kearney, NE, grandson Riese Lerdall of Edmond, OK, granddaughter Jenni (Travis) Shepherd and great grandchildren Lavin and Evan of North Platte, NE, sister-in-law Donna Sinor of Niwot, CO, sister-in-law Cynde Sinor of South Lake, TX, brother Keith (Joline) Sinor of Grand Island, NE, sister Donna Kay Sinor of Kansas City, MO, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dancing partner Joanna Morris of Elwood, NE.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. A dance will be held that evening in Bill’s honor starting at 7:00 p.m. at the North Platte Senior Center, 901 East 10th Street, North Platte, NE 69101.
