William “Bill” Henry Abell, Jr., 95, of Newberry, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at White Oak Manor of Newberry.
He was born on October 4, 1930 to William Henry Sr. and Leila Raines Abell. Mr. Abell was an Army veteran, where he served during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He would later be employed at Dupont of Lugoff, where he retired after 34 years. Mr. Abell was a Mason, serving as Worshipful Master of the Blythewood Lodge, and later a Shriner. He was also an outdoorsman who loved fishing, crabbing, and camping. He was even recently making plans to go rabbit hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Yarborough Abell; children, William Andrew (Michelle) Abell, Clark Henry (Susan) Abell, Richard Bennie (Lorraine) Abell, James Arthur Abell, and Anna Dillard (Chet) Wilson; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Reverend Jackie Robinson. Visitation will be held at the funeral home the hour prior to the service.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Blythewood. Visitation will be held in the church the hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Methodist Church, 1150 Zion Church Road, Blythewood, SC 29016.
